Istanbul Modern Cinema opens its new season with a program focusing on contemporary Southeast Asian cinema, which has gained increasing visibility at international film festivals. Bringing together notable recent films from the Philippines, Malaysia, Thailand, and Cambodia, the selection explores the region’s social transformations, political tensions, everyday life, and shifting identities through distinctive cinematic languages. Standing out for their diverse aesthetic approaches and modes of storytelling, the films offer a multilayered perspective on Southeast Asia today.
