The film tells the story of Zakaria, a small-time P. Ramlee impersonator trying to get by in 1974 Kuala Lumpur. Malaysia’s legendary actor, singer, and director P. Ramlee has just passed away, but his art has already been dismissed as “old-fashioned.” Yusuf, a local gangster to whom Zakaria owes money, makes him an unexpected offer: to impersonate Ramlee in order to entertain his sister Zaiton, who believes she is living in the 1950s. This peculiar assignment gradually evolves into a deep and dangerous bond between Zakaria and Zaiton. With its colourful costumes, retro music, and flamboyant 1970s atmosphere, the film blends romantic comedy with bittersweet drama.
