Fren works in the Human Resources department of a large corporation in Bangkok. While conducting interviews with new employees, she learns she is pregnant. With this news still unshared, she begins to question bringing a child into a competitive, precarious, and exhausting world. Amid low wages, six-day working weeks, overbearing managers, and the constant pressure for self-improvement, Fren’s profession becomes a microcosm of a corporate system in which people are viewed as mere “resources.” Known for Die Tomorrow and Happy Old Year, the director transforms the invisible violence of working life, the idea of motherhood, and anxiety about the future into a universal question through a calm, measured narrative voice.
