Locarno Film Festival in Istanbul November 13–23, 2025

For the third time, Istanbul Modern Cinema brings to Istanbul a selection of films from the 78th Locarno Film Festival, held in August. Renowned for its dedication to independent and innovative filmmaking, the festival holds a distinctive place on the global film festival map. All films in the program will have their Türkiye premieres. This year’s selection includes Kamal Aljafari’s With Hasan in Gaza, filmed in 2001 during the director’s visit to the Gaza Strip in search of a former cellmate, and Sophy Romvari’s Blue Heron, which follows a young woman confronting her family’s past on Vancouver Island.
