Director: Kamal Aljafari
In 1989, during the First Intifada, artist and filmmaker Aljafari was imprisoned by the Israeli occupation, where he met a man named Abdel Rahim. Twelve years later, equipped with nothing but a name, a photograph, a local guide (Hasan), and a handheld camera, he travels to Gaza in search of him. The three MiniDV tapes that recorded this journey—set aside for more than twenty years—form an urgent, beautiful, and heartbreaking elegy to a land and people devastated beyond words. Through this film, Aljafari positions cinema as a vessel of memory, resisting the erasure of time and space within the obliterated streets of Gaza.
