DRY LEAF, 2025

Germany, Georgia | DCP, Color, 186’ | Georgian
Director: Alexandre Koberidze
Cast: David Koberidze, Otar Nijaradze

The story begins with Lisa, a sports photographer who disappears while working on a project documenting football fields in rural Georgia. Rejecting a letter that claims his daughter does not want to be found, her father Irakli (played by the director’s own father) embarks on a search alongside Lisa’s mysterious friend Levani. The film unfolds as a poetic journey through landscapes and encounters with locals, transforming into a meditation both melodic and profound. With its low-resolution aesthetic, blurred figures, and still vistas, it gives visual form to the theme of “invisibility.” Its fragile imagery—reminiscent of Monet’s paintings—and the enchanting score composed by the director’s brother, Giorgi Koberidze, make Dry Leaf one of the most delicate and surprising works of contemporary cinema.
