Count Us In! November 10–24, 2016

Istanbul Modern Cinema, presents its fifth annual program of new films from Turkey under the heading Count Us In! The program consists of films that made a mark in the past year and won awards at festivals but had little exposure at commercial theaters. This year’s program features films that won awards at various festivals in 2016 such as Dust Cloth (Toz Bezi), Motherland (Ana Yurdu), and Wedding Dance (Kasap Havası), as well as Cold of Kalandar (Kalandar Soğuğu), which will be Turkey’s official submission for Best Foreign Language Film at this year’s Academy Awards. Also included in the program are Seren Yüce’s second film Swaying Waterlily (Rüzgarda Salınan Nilüfer), the latest productions of renowned directors such as Zeki Demirkubuz and Derviş Zaim, and Album (Albüm), which was the only Turkish film at Cannes this year. Directors and cast members will also be in attendance at the screenings.
