Senem Tüzen’s first feature film Motherland won the awards for Best Screenplay and Best Lead Actress at the 22nd International Adana Film Festival. The film draws the portrait of a woman torn between her love and hate for her mother. Nesrin is an urban woman recovering from divorce who goes to her recently deceased grandmother’s village house to rest her mind and fulfill her dream of writing a novel. But she’s unable to do either when her mother suddenly turns up. The generation conflict between the two women will turn Nesrin’s dreams into a nightmare.
