PARPALİ—meaning "butterfly" in Laz—is one of the season's most beloved models, thanks to its unique shape. Like all our basket models, this piece was hand-woven by local women to support their livelihoods; it was then combined with our hand-woven *peştamal* (traditional woven cloth) and given its final form in our leather workshop. Please note that since the *peştamal* is hand-woven on traditional looms—staying true to its authentic form—pattern placement may vary from product to product. If you have a specific pattern preference, please be sure to mention it in the order notes. Production Process K'ai&Vrosi was founded with the aim of adapting the *peştamal*—a traditional textile facing extinction due to a dwindling number of master weavers—into a high-value product that can be passed down through generations. Since 2018, we have championed local producers through positive discrimination, creating employment opportunities and—thanks to you—helping them contribute to their local economies. The *peştamal* is more than just a simple cloth; it is a product of immense craftsmanship, involving painstaking effort long before it even reaches the loom. What makes it truly precious are the artisans who keep the sound of the loom alive and weave these pieces in limited quantities, ensuring the craft does not disappear. The journey begins in the Black Sea region, where the wicker baskets are hand-woven by housewives or at public education centers; the final assembly takes place in Istanbul at the hands of our leather master. Throughout this process, we embrace a "slow production" model—unconstrained by seasonal pressures—and work with all our stakeholders to ensure fair conditions and proper valuation as we bring these products to you. As the *peştamals* are woven on traditional looms, slight variations may occur in each product. The straw basket is hand-woven by female artisans in the Black Sea region. It features an adjustable leather handle. It is made using 100% genuine leather. Cotton fabric is used for the lining. The hardware is gold-colored. Height: 20 cm Width: 12 cm Depth: 10 cm
