SOUND DREAMS OF ISTANBUL, 2024

Türkiye, France | DCP, Color, 70’ | Turkish
Director: Anıl Eraslan

This documentary by cellist, composer, and improviser Anıl Eraslan is about the improvised music scene in Istanbul, based on a dream. Dreams about sound and improvisational performances intertwine in Eraslan's journey with his musician friends. The sounds emanating from the streets to the studios reveal the multi-layered structure of the city and its transforming identity. Taking the viewer on an aural exploration with musicians, sound artists, and archival recordings, the film tries to understand Istanbul through hearing.
