Premiering at DokuFest in Kosovo, the film traces the life of Mekin Gönenç – a fighter pilot, revolutionary, and cinephile. After leaving the military, Gönenç devoted his life to cinema. The thousands of VHS tapes he left behind and the film journals he published together draw a romantic portrait of the twentieth century.

The film follows a photographer returning years later to the Saraykapı neighborhood in Diyarbakır’s İçkale district, comparing past and present through spatial memory. As the camera traces the images of the past within a neighborhood transformed by urban redevelopment, it reveals photography as both a tool of remembrance and a fragile record.

Each winter, the Gorani Kurds of Iran’s Hewraman region reenact the legendary wedding of Pir Shalyar through ritual ceremonies. Following the celebration in the village of Uraman Takht, the documentary brings to the present a powerful cultural and spiritual memory – woven through worship and chanting – that has been transmitted for centuries.
