CRIMSON GOLD

CRIMSON GOLD

CRIMSON GOLD (TALAYE SORKH), 2003
Iran | 35mm, Color, 95' | Persian
Director: Jafar Panahi
Cast: Hossain Emadeddin, Kamyar Sheisi, Azita Rayeji

This time Panahi brings to the fore the problems experienced by men; their despair in meeting the social values and traditions expected of them. When Hossain, who works at a pizza parlor, finds a jewelry receipt in a purse recovered by his friend Ali his life changes. He sees the contrast between his own life and that of upper classes who live in luxury; and one night he finds himself at the very edge of that life. A gripping drama that shows social class differences in Iran and how men are hard put.
