Architecture As Art

March 2026

MasterClass: Nevzat Sayın

25 March 2026, 17.00-19.00

This seminar approaches architecture through the spirit of space, the nature of materials, and user experience. It presents examples of how architectural thinking can be practiced as an aesthetic stance, an artistic intuition, and a cultural mode of interpretation. Examining the creative role of architecture within its geographic, cultural, and social contexts, the seminar discusses architecture not only as an act of building but also as an art practice that produces meaning. It highlights the artistic value of structures that transform memory and establish images between past and future – structures that continue to live on even when their functions change.

Workshop: Mesut Öztürk

12–13 March 2026, 13.00-15.00

This WorkShop is based on artist Mesut Öztürk’s works, which bring together architectural history and sculptural form through the idea of “functionless architecture.” It invites participants to rethink the boundaries between architecture and sculpture. Over two days, participants explore ways of transforming spatial experience into sculptural design objects. Through experimental modeling – where each production raises questions for the next – forms are bent, transformed, and reconstructed, and brought to life through ceramics. The WorkShop offers a space for thinking and making that questions form, reimagines space, and reveals the sculptural potential of architecture.
