Conversation with Luca Molinari: The Role of the Curator

This talk, led by architect, critic, and curator Luca Molinari, brings together Molinari’s curatorial experiences across various institutions, including international biennials. He reflects on exhibition-making processes, decision-making dynamics, and the relationship between space and narrative, offering insight into both the conceptual and practical dimensions of curatorial practice.

A Professor of Architectural Theory and Design at the University of Campania “Luigi Vanvitelli” and Editor-in-Chief of Platform Architecture and Design magazine, Molinari has received the Ernesto Nathan Rogers Award for architectural criticism and communication at the 10th International Architecture Exhibition of the Venice Biennale, as well as the UIA Jean Tschumi Prize for architectural criticism.

Inviting audiences to reconsider the role of the curator, Molinari delves into key areas such as research, conceptual framing, content development, and visitor experience. Drawing on the expertise he has consolidated through Luca Molinari Studio, founded in Milan in 2014 and providing integrated curatorial, consultancy, and project management services in architecture and museum management, he discusses contemporary curatorial approaches and the evolving needs of the field.
