Conversation with Aslı Çavuşoğlu: Everything Interesting Takes Place in the Dark

Led by contemporary artist Aslı Çavuşoğlu, whose work explores the relationships between history, memory, language, and representation, the program focuses on the concept of public space, taking as its point of departure her work “ANNEX,” featured in Istanbul Modern’s collection exhibition “Beneath the Same Blue.”

Approaching public space as a multilayered site of encounter where different histories, memories, social relations, and individual experiences intersect, Çavuşoğlu shares examples from different periods of her practice during the seminar. Through these works, she discusses her research into forms of narrative, historiography, and processes of representation.
