International Artist Residency Program

Istanbul Modern’s International Artist Residency Program focuses on the evolution of Istanbul’s creative culture from past to present. Aiming to contribute to international contemporary art production on the basis of dialogue and collaborations, the program hosts artists from diverse geographies in Istanbul.

Participating artists work with the museum’s curatorial team to conduct research focused on the city’s unique character. The program encourages artists to create innovative approaches, address global issues through local stories, and rethink Istanbul’s heritage to carry it into the future.

Centering around Istanbul, the museum and its collections, participants are expected to share the process and outcomes of their research with Istanbul Modern visitors through exhibitions, workshops, talks, screenings, and performances. By embracing a wide

variety of art disciplines, the program enhances the diversity of Istanbul Modern’s exhibitions and programs.
