In this film the director, who is known for the element of humor he adds to his films, tells the story of a young Norwegian sailor called Almar whose gold watch, of great sentimental value, has been broken. He goes to a town in Spain to have it repaired and while waiting he meets the townspeople, who are rather unusual. An Australian sailor called Wind tells him about his dubious adventures andMartha, a beautiful Spanish girl, has a bizarre grandfather. As Almar strolls the town and meets new people he begins to think that time has stopped in this town just as his watch did.
