Two films from Hungarian cinema that complement each other thematically despite a 58-year gap: The Workman’s Overall constructs a melodramatic narrative in which a wealthy factory owner disguises himself as a worker to investigate corruption. Long circulated under incorrect labeling, the film was rediscovered and restored by EYE Filmmuseum in 2017.
At the Lőrinc Spinnery adopts an observational approach to the daily lives of women working in a textile factory. Bringing together the rhythm of the factory with personal narratives, it renders visible both the aesthetics of labor and working conditions.
Restoration: NFI Hungary Film Archive

Live Music: Orhan Deniz & Onur Başkurt
