Lord Angus Cameron’s secret marriage to Marion Hume, the housekeeper of his castle, becomes an obstacle to his new life. The only proof of this marriage lies in a document aboard a sunken yacht called “The White Heather.” When Marion’s efforts fail, Cameron and Alec McClintock, who is in love with her, dive to retrieve the document. This descent turns into a deadly underwater confrontation. Reflecting the tension between melodrama and visual spectacle, the film is particularly notable for its underwater scenes, which reveal the technical and narrative explorations of early cinema.
