Following The Cow (1969), Dariush Mehrjui addresses the fractures created by Iran’s rapid Westernization in this film. The life of Taghi, a timid postman, is disrupted by the intervention of an entrepreneur returning from the West. Combining satire and allegory, the film reveals both social pressures and the character’s psychological disintegration.
