Veteran director Margarethe von Trotta’s new film The Misplaced World, whichpremiered at this year’s Berlin International Film Festival, is about characters who confront their past. A photograph on the Internet disrupts the lives of Paul and his daughter Sophie. Paul claims that this opera singer who lives in New York is his deceased wife, in other words Sophie’s mother. Upon her father’s insistence, Sophie sets out to meet this stranger. The Misplaced World stars Katja Riemann, one of the most popular actresses of German cinema, alongside the director’s favorite actress Barbara Sukowa.
