Berlin, 1943: The Third Reich officially announces that Berlin, the capital, is “Free from Jews.” Then again, there is a group of young Jewish Berliners that manage to stay invisible within the anonymous structure of the city. They hide, they take over different identities or they go underground. What keeps them safe from the brutalities of the Gestapo is their luck or their lightheartedness typical of their young age. Only a handful of people know their true identities. The director Räfle juxtaposes interviews with people who have witnessed this period with the film sequences. As such, the gripping story of the four main characters gets connected to the realities of that era. The Invisibles portrays courageous heroes and their stories, while shedding light to a not so well known side of the Jewish resistance.
