THE INEXTINGUISHABLE FIRE (NICHT LÖSCHBARES FEUER), 1969
West Germany | DVD, Black-White, 25' | German, English
Director: Harun Farocki
Cast: Gerd Volker Bussäus, Harun Farocki, Caroline Gremm
Inextinguishable Fire, the first film Harun Farocki made outside the Film Academy, combines didactic elements and political agitation with a simple and spare cinematic style. Farocki sets forth a didactic order in contrast to the voyeurism of Vietnam War journalism. In the film a model reconstruction of napalm manufacturing is followed by a game-like call to resistance.
