THE ANTENNA (BİNA), 2019
Turkey | HDD, Color, 106’ | Turkish
Director: Orçun Behram
Cast: İhsan Önal, Gül Arıcı, Levent Ünsal

Having made its world premiere in the "Discovery" section at the 44th Toronto Film Festival last year, The Antenna deals with the manipulation of perception of reality through a television antenna erected on the roof of an apartment building, and the lethal force this antenna emanates in a very stylized world. There is a power rising inside the building that calls out "Your voice is our voice, our strength is our destiny". Although the film is a reference to the 1980s, the hyper-reality created by the media and its manipulation of the masses also mirrors the oppressive and dark atmosphere of today. Orçun Behram’s first feature length film, The Antenna is a genre film that is at once a system criticism and a thriller that operates with the themes and visual codes of the horror genre.
