Türkiye, United Kingdom | DCP, Color, 71’ | Turkish
Director: Ceylan Özgün Özçelik
The film focuses on the present-day state of Naturland Eco Park & Resort, which opened in the 1990s as one of Türkiye’s first “eco-friendly” hotels and now stands abandoned in the forest. Once presented as a holiday utopia, this massive complex closed in 2014 after debts and scandals, leaving behind faded colors and untold stories. Drawing on the site’s architecture and the voices of imagined guests, Özçelik constructs a darkly comic panorama stretching across the country’s last 30 years. With its hybrid form shot entirely on a phone, the film also enables the transformation of utopia into dystopia to be experienced visually.
