With the Ilısu Dam which is planned to be built on the Tigris River, Hasankeyf and this heritage is about to be drowned under water. As the final step and the first plan of the South-East Project, Ilısu dam is planned to be constructed on the main branch of the Tigris River. Thereby, this situation causes an endless forced emigration for thousands of people living in or around Hasankeyf. The currently forced migrants are Hasankeyf’s people who are living under the shadow of the dam ghost facing the danger of deterritorialization with the ‘housing estates’ and struggling to sustain the livelihood for maintain their generation and transmit their cultural heritage to the future generations. We wanted to listen the silent history of Hasankeyf from the people of Hasankeyf and share with their words, their connections with the past, what they feel today and what are their thoughts and concerns for the future.
