On Body and Soul depicts the mystical love story of an introverted man and a woman. Endre is a finance director at a slaughterhouse near Budapest, and he is completely enamored the moment he first encounters Mária, who is on an inspection visit. However, Endre is unable to face his feelings let alone disclose them to Mária. After a while, the extremely meticulous and even shyer Mária and Endre coincidentally realize that they have had the same dream. The love that they are unable to express in real life is deepened in the story like world in which they meet every night. Enyedi’s first film after her return to cinema following a 17-year hiatus, On Body and Soul merges a poetic narrative with sheer reality. The film won the Golden Bear at the 67^th Berlin International Film Festival in 2017.
