Atıf Yılmaz is an acknowledged master of Turkish cinema who has bestowed upon it a unique voice through such fantastic endeavors as Ahh Belinda, Asiye Nasıl Kurtulur, and Adı Vasfiye. In Hayallerim, Aşkım ve Sen (My Dreams, My Love, and You), he presents a work which intricately weaves flashbacks, dreams, and realities into one another and combines them with an offbeat structure and surreal elements. Coşkun grew up in an orphanage where he spent much of his time watching “Yeşilçam” (“Turkish Bollywood”) movies. Now he lives with Derya and Nuran, two imaginary Yeşilçam characters that he’s created in his mind, and he’s writing a screenplay that he’s dreamed up for an actress that he’s an ardent fan of. Hayallerim, Aşkım ve Sen is an astonishing look into Turkish cinema that draws attention to “Yeşilçam” characters while also commenting mordantly on various aspects of filmmaking.
