MARINA ABRAMOVIC: THE ARTIST IS PRESENT

MARINA ABRAMOVIC: THE ARTIST IS PRESENT, 2012
USA | Blu-ray, Color, 106’| English
Directors: Matthew Akers, Jeff Dupre

For close to forty years Marina Abramovic has been redefining art by using her own body as a vehicle to create performances that are challenging, shocking, and thought-provoking. This time, she is preparing for a performance that shares the same title as the film. Mingling the process of this preparation with clips of her past performances, this fluid documentary also calls into question the nature and legitimacy of performance art. The film also witnesses three months of Marina’s performance where she sat motionless on a chair at New York’s MoMA for a total of 736 hours.
