LIMITE, 1931

Brazil | DCP, Black-White | 120’
Director: Mario Peixoto
Cast: Olga Breno, Tatiana Rey, Raul Schnoor

Limite, the only feature film by Mário Peixoto, made at the age of 22, is an early example of avant-garde cinema. The story of a man and two women adrift at sea unfolds through flashbacks that reveal their pasts. With its fragmented narrative structure and powerful visual imagery, the film rejects linear storytelling and demonstrates cinema’s potential as a space for thinking beyond narrative.
Restoration: Cinemateca Brasileira, The Film Foundation’s World Cinema Project
