A powerful family drama set in the Finland of the 70s and 80s. In the attic of their house two brothers go back 10 years, remembering their childhood traumas and following the tracks of what remains of their family and the tragedy that led them to the present state. For 18-year-old Rupert the curse is their father while his younger brother Evert still tries to defend the father. The story of these inseparable brothers is sometimes about a fun Christmas morning, sometimes a Cowboys and Indians game, and sometimes about separations that need to be digested… As the film moves on the wounds under the wings of their fantasy plays are revealed. With its tragicomic story and touching narration Last Cowboy Standing is one of the star films of recent nostalgic Finnish cinema…
