THE AGE OF IGNORANCE

THE AGE OF IGNORANCE

THE AGE OF IGNORANCE (L'ÂGE DES TÉNÈBRES), 2007
Canada, France | 35mm, Color, 104' | English, French
Director: Denys Arcand
Cast: Marc Labrèche, Diane Kruger, Sylvie Léonard

Denys Arcand, one of Canada’s most prominent directors, tells the story, alternating between reality and fantasy, of Jean-Marc who dreams of becoming a pop star and ends up completely loosing touch with reality. In his fantasies this ordinary civil servant, who in reality is a failure as father and husband and a closet smoker, becomes a knight in shining armor, a successful author, and a star of the stage who has women at his fingertips. The Age of Ignorance is an enjoyable dark comedy with a fair amount of political messages and sharp social criticism!
