A memorable feminist drama! After her husband beats her once more and puts her life in danger Catherine decides to run away with her son and start a new life. Under a new identity she seeks shelter in various places from the conservative neighborhoods of Quebec to the backwoods in the north. During her journey from fear to confidence and from there to hope, Catherine, with her new name Sophie, has to redefine who she is and what she wants. Delisle got full marks from the critics for this first film.
