In “Balık”, the second film in Derviş Zaim’s trilogy about humans and nature, Kaya, his wife Filiz and their young daughter Deniz live in a sea-side town and earn their living by fishing. Filiz falls in pursuit of a kind of fish that is said to be a remedy for the muteness from which their daughter Deniz suffers. The fish that Kaya finds at home leads him to establish a fish farm. But in order to raise the money for this Kaya engages in illegal fishing, which brings irreversible harm to himself and his family. The film, which focuses on the misuse of nature and the harm that people incur as a result, received an award at the Altın Koza Film Festival for its screenplay.
