Focusing on three friends whose life paths and relationships are altered following the occupation of Nazi Germany, Divided We Fall is not a story of truth or reconciliation. The Josef and Maria couple decides to hide their Jewish friend in their food cabinet during the days when chaos, doubt and uncertainty prevail, and when one neighbor is ready to rat on another. With this great secret, their lives will be in danger. The Czechoslovakian nomination for the Oscars, this dark satire simply conveys the experiences of its ordinary characters rather than offering a lesson on morality about the Holocaust.
