Barbara that has received the “Best Director” award in The International Berlin Film Festival this year, takes place in the 80’s East Germany. Doctor Barbara who has been arrested and later banished to the province because of problems with the regime, is determined to escape to the West even though all her activities are under surveillance. But André, a colleague she met in this small village, leads her to review her values. Screened first time in Turkey at The Istanbul Film Festival this year,Barbara is a restrained and mature drama bearing the signature of Christian Petzold who is one of the most important contemporary directors of the German cinema.
