Director: Pedro Costa
Cast: Ventura, Vitalina Varela, Tito Furtad
A continuation of Costa’s films made in collaboration with Cape Verdean immigrants, Horse Money once again centres on the unforgettable face of Ventura, taking him on a dark journey. We follow Ventura through a night haunted by the ghosts of the past. His wandering through spaces resembling hospital corridors and underground passageways unfolds in a fragmented narrative akin to dream logic, bringing together personal memories and postcolonial traumas. In the film, Costa turns spaces and faces into living sculptures, once again making visible cinema’s power to transform everyday life into the miraculous.
