Lale Tara: Innocent Surrogates

Lale Tara: Innocent Surrogates

In the exhibition "Innocent Surrogates", Istanbul Modern Photography Gallery presented the latest photography series of Lale Tara, whom we know from the mise-en-scènes she creates with innocent surrogates. Inviting us to see in an entirely new way the theme of mother and child often treated in Renaissance painting, she documented a journey in space-time, imparting fairy-tale-like, supernatural qualities to the surrogates she photographed.

The artist, who explains that the series "Innocent Surrogates" consists of two-dimensional copies of the reality we believe in, thinks that the inclusion of these surrogates in our fantasies through the stories she conveys to us proves that they are real.
