Date: Sunday, June 22
Time: 13.00–16.00
Venue: Eco Art Lab
Led by vegan artist and academic Özlem Gök, the workshop offers an ethical and aesthetic perspective on bird deaths that remain invisible in urban environments. Human-centered interventions such as light, sound, and air pollution, along with rapid urbanization, have contributed to the disappearance of bird species in cities, leaving behind a silence that often goes unnoticed. Inspired by Rachel Carson’s Silent Spring (1962), participants are invited to reconsider their relationship with lost fauna as they create bird forms using the monotype technique.
ECO ART LAB
Upcycling Meetings with Artists
In Istanbul Modern's new museum building, upcycling meetings with artists are organized as part of the Eco Art Lab education program sponsored by Damat Tween. In the upcycling meetings, which focus on topics such as sustainable future, continuity of life for all, and environmental change, together with artists and designers from different fields, participants explore the methods and possibilities of transforming end-of-life items into artistic materials or design products.
