İnci Eviner’s drawing-based images meet the audience with new perspectives as they are re-interpreted in different disciplines. These images – which sometimes appear as limbs, sometimes as faces, sometimes as objects, and sometimes as tools – come together to play a role in completely different stories without becoming detached from their original starting points. Taking into account history, philosophy, architecture and art history, she re-examines cultural codes, gender, issues of power, and the situation of those who have trouble finding their place in society, who lack power, and who are excluded from society.
In her painting from the “Uncanny” series, “Arthur Rimbaud”, İnci Eviner takes a woman’s point of view in her treatment of the uncanny, a concept to which she approaches with curiosity. As the viewer resolves the layers of meaning concealed in the drawings and objects, they encounter their own fears. In her drawings, İnci Eviner brings together different figures in society in her imaginary world.
