Days in Orange October 4–21, 2012

Between October 4-21, in collaboration with the EYE Film Institute and the Netherlands Consulate İstanbul Modern Cinema presents a program of Dutch cinema. Held within the scope of the celebrations for the 400th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the Netherlands and Turkey, the film program consists of five sections: Feature Films, Shorts, Frank Scheffer Retrospective, Cinedans Films, and Salon Films.

During Days in Orange, İstanbul Modern Cinema will screen eight critically acclaimed or award-winning recent feature films; a retrospective of eight films by director Frank Scheffer, known for his documentaries on music history, from Edgard Varèse and Frank Zappa to the electronic music scene and John Cage; and a program of 19 recent shorts ranging from animation to documentaries selected by EYE, the prestigious film center of the Netherlands. The selection offers a current view of the country’s cinema through Dutch films that have recently earned acclaim and treat of people’s inner journeys, transformations, and struggles. The program also includes a joint section in collaboration with the Cinedans Festival.Janine Dijkmeijer, artistic director at Cinedans will be at the screening to present the program. Ranging from advertising and experimental art, the final 20 films to be screened are all shot by Dutch designers. This last selection is made by Salon art center, which will be attenting the İstanbul Design Biennial.
