Genç Modern brings together young audiences between ages 21 and 40 who are interested in modern and contemporary art with young artists within Istanbul Modern and enable them to become a part of Istanbul’s art community. Through exhibition tours, gallery visits, fairs, biennials, and similar art events, Genç Modern members meet artists, curators, and collectors. They also follow the transformation of the contemporary art scene by participating in art excursions in Turkey and abroad. At the same time, Genç Modern members generate the necessary resources for the museum to acquire works by young artists for its collection through their membership fees. Fikret Atay’s video “Tinica”, two works from Vahap Avşar’s “The Black Album” series, Ferhat Özgür’s video “I Can Sing” and Vahit Tuna’s installation “Sunshine” are among the works added to the Istanbul Modern Collection through the funds provided by Genç Modern members to this day. All written and visual content of Genç Modern is offered in Turkish. |
