This is the first feature-length film by the director who also co-wrote the narrative and served as one of the cinematographers. During the time he traveled the world as a photojournalist Marker grew an interest in filmmaking. This first film of his is a documentation of the 1952 Helsinki Olympics. An Olympic night in black and white, from the opening ceremony and the fluttering flags to Finnish gymnasts and Soviet athletes preparing for the marathon accompanied by jazz music…
