Mommy I’m Scared

Mommy I’m Scared, 2004

Turkey, 35mm, Color, 128’
Cast: Ali Düşenkalkar, Işıl Yücesoy, Köksal Engür, Şenay Gürler, Arzu Bazman

The film begins with Ali’s accident in which he loses his memory. With Ali’s confusion all the “characters” of the film find themselves in a state of chaos: the chaos of life. A precious ring passing from hand to hand and seeking its true owner, the story of a robbery, and a mock police investigation further spice up this chaos.

“The director has made excellent use of Istanbul. What we have here is a true fabric with the hooting of ferries, and seagulls, streets, and rooftops.Mommy I’m Scaredis a tale about all those wonderful things we have lost and about us as organims.” – Murat Erşahin
