Hans-Christian Schmid, 2012, 85’

Hans-Christian Schmid’s new film, which competed for the Golden Bear in Berlin this year, is a family drama. Together with his little son, Marko, who lives in Berlin, pays a weekend visit to his parents and brother. But this family reunion sets the stage for rising tension. Especially the mother’s announcement that she has decided to stop taking her anti-depression medication causes worries for all the other family members. With the help of a very fine cast, Schmid focuses on psychological states of people come together in a limited space. The performances of leads Lars Eidinger and Corrina Harfouch are especially striking.
