FATHER (OTAC), 2020
Serbia, France, Germany | HDD, Color, 120’ | Serbian
Director: Srdan Golubovic
Cast: Goran Bogdan, Boris Isakovic, Nada Sargin

This fourth feature length film by Serbian director Srdan Golubović begins with a striking scene: a woman with her two children goes to the factory where her husband works. She has no money to buy food and has finally decided to burn herself with gasoline. While the opening scene focuses on a mother, Nikola, the father is the leading character. Nikola starts walking the 300 km road to Belgrade in order to regain the custody of his children who were taken away by social security after his wife’s suicide attempt. For Nikola, whose sole aim is to make his voice heard by the authorities, this will be a journey where his body is tested. The only thing the movie doesn't waver is its reality. There is nothing to romanticize in Nikola's story. The Father is a devastating portrait of an indifferent and rotten society.
