When Angels Fall

When Angels Fall 11th Video Program

The title of the program came from the short by Roman Polanski "When Angels Fall" (1959).

The archetype of the fallen angel can be traced back to religious history and mythology, as an allegory of the loss of grace, sin and retribution of hubris. Historically, it has been referenced to in drama, literature and cinema as a metaphor for the loss of innocence and the subsequent search for salvation.

The works of art in this program examine issues related to the fall and the return to grace, death and the hope of re-birth, drawing analogies between mysticism and youth culture, and raise questions on the significance and the implications of life’s cycle.
