"Şakir Eczacıbaşı: Selected Moments" Exhibition Event

As part of the “Şakir Eczacıbaşı: Selected Moments” exhibition, the curator of the exhibition Bülent Erkmen, photographer and lecturer Orhan Cem Çetin and Istanbul Modern Chief Curator Öykü Özsoy are coming together for a conversation. Şakir Eczacıbaşı defined art as “an effort to reproduce the world with a specific personal interpretation”, and during the conversation, the panelists will talk about the impressionist photographs the artist took in the 1960s as well as his photographs from the 1980s that question the formalism of the medium of photography. The panelists will discuss the relationship between the artist’s images that add an extraordinary emotion to ordinary moments and the technique of display, installation as well as the specific curatorial choices.
