The nomination from Argentina, The Sleepwalkers focuses on the relationship of a mother and daughter. Luisa is on vacation at her mother-in-law’s summer house together with her husband and daughter Ana, when she discovers that Ana, who is just starting puberty, is a sleepwalker. As Ana tries to manage her male cousin, who is a dating enthusiast while simultaneously testing the limits of her own sexuality, Luisa is forced to rethink her marriage. In this family gathering where three different generations come together, hidden secrets are revealed and the relationship between mother and daughter is put to the test. Set against the backdrop of a leisurely summer season, and using a handheld camera, the film places the viewers at the center of this family drama, as it reflects the mental states of each character.
