In conjunction with the Design Cities exhibition, İstanbul Modern Cinema will be showing films on architecture, animation and graphic design. Starting in May, "Three Aspects of Design" film program, which requires no admission fee, includes Gary Hustwit’s first feature-length documentary film "Helvetica" (2007) on "Helvetica: the best typeface of all time", as well as Nathaniel Kahn’s "My Architect: A Son's Journey (2003). Nominated for a 2003 Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature, the film is about the life and works of Nathaniel Kahn’s father Louis I. Kahn, who is regarded as one of the most outstanding artists of the 20th century.

Digital film festival Resfest’s Best of By Design, exclusively created for graphic design since 2001, showcases leading 'motion graphics' and 'broadcast design' examples that add a fresh twist to the sector. Best of By Design selection in İstanbul Modern Cinema program includes live action, animation and graphic designs for TV by creative and innovative artists like Johnny Hardstaff, Richard Fenwick, Tronic Studio, Grant Orchard, The Designers Republic, +Cruz and Nakd, whose works reflect the future of media design.
